
They say everything happens in 7 years cycles, making this the perfect time to reflect on SuperOkay‘s journey. A story of dedication to elevating small agencies and their client relationships.
How did it all start?
SuperOkay started out as Perfect 10 Studio, a small digital agency crafting mobile apps for visionary entrepreneurs. Our clients had bold ideas but little technical know-how, relying on us to bring them to life.
Projects began with enthusiasm: discovery, scoping, and stunning designs that thrilled clients. But once development kicked in, reality set in. New insights led to revisions, scope creep followed, and projects stretched beyond timelines and budgets.
We needed a smarter approach.
Specstimate – the scope creep buster
Our first solution? Specstimate—a tool for defining project specs and estimates in real time. Clients and agencies could propose, review, and approve changes instantly, making costs clear upfront.
Even when we didn’t charge for every tweak, acknowledging adjustments created transparency. Suddenly, we weren’t on opposite sides—we were problem-solving together with our clients.
Yet, estimation was just one part of the challenge. The real game-changer? Communication.
Communication is always the key
Each project is fundamentally a relationship. The more we were able to understand each other, client and agency that is, the better things went. So we set out to find a way to smooth out every possible source of misunderstanding, frustration or delay.
We knew the common headaches: lost emails, missed messages, slow responses, and mismatched expectations between business and development.
We envisioned a shared portal where agency and client saw the same information in real time, removing confusion. That vision led to SuperOkay.
The smart document format you didn’t know you needed
To simplify collaboration, we introduced smart documents—pre-formatted, intuitive pages that kept communication crisp and structured.
Think Google docs meets Notion pages, optimized for agency-client work: text, images, videos, charts, pricing tables, interactive graphs, and a crucial Approval Button—without unnecessary clutter and options overload. This streamlined approach became a user favorite.
Creating a real home for the Project
Once we solved communication, agencies embraced SuperOkay. Our 2021 AppSumo campaign propelled us into the top 10 SaaS products that year. User feedback shaped our roadmap overnight.
The feedback was instant. Every small bug or imperfect feature was spotted, debated and reported. In less then 24 hours we had our roadmap cut out for us.
Customization, role differentiation, and task management were the top requests—and we delivered. The result? A true home for client projects, where users could jump in, navigate effortlessly, and skip tedious onboarding or webinars.
To this day, we hear from our customers that the one thing they appreciate the most about SuperOkay is that their clients find it easy to use.
Fighting temptation to go the enterprise route
The SaaS world often pushes companies toward enterprise solutions—big clients, high-ticket pricing, aggressive sales. Investors encouraged this pivot, but to us, it felt like selling out.
Our mission has always been to serve small agencies, not as a stepping stone, but as our core focus. Unlike competitors, we refused to nickel-and-dime users with per-seat pricing. Instead, we committed to a flat-rate, all-inclusive plan: $112/month for unlimited seats, projects, and clients.
This philosophy honors Basecamp, the original client portal that inspired us. Simplicity, transparency, and affordability remain our guiding principles.
Where are we now and what is next
Seven years in, with thousands of active users, SuperOkay has evolved into more than a client portal—it’s now a lightweight project management tool. Our task management system is now the most-used feature, helping agency and client teams collaborate and harmonise seamlessly.
Our core audience remains 10-30 person digital agencies, though freelancers and small teams thrive with SuperOkay, too. Many of our customers have grown from tiny startups to thriving businesses while using our platform.
For our seventh anniversary, we did a full security review and platform overhaul, ensuring we continue to protect our users while staying true to our ethos.
The Future? We’re expanding integrations and rolling out user-driven features—all designed to help small agencies work smarter, collaborate better, and grow stronger.
